In addition, studies have found that the frequency of lottery play varies widely by demographics. Men tend to play more than women, and blacks and Hispanics more than whites. Further, there is a negative relationship between income and the probability of lottery play. Those with less money are more likely to play, but they also tend to have lower expectations of winning.
